Introduction
Inspired by and named after the Old Norse term ‘Fjall Fors’, meaning Mountain Waterfall. This is where the Cumbrian words ‘Fell’ (Mountain) and ‘Force’ (Waterfall) originally came from. Our Decaf blend uses beans which have been decaffeinated with the Swiss Water process.
This process was purpose designed to avoid contamination of the coffee beans. In order to extract the caffeine from coffee, there are usually chemicals involved that help with stripping the stimulant from the coffee beans. In the case of Swiss Water Decaf it relies purely on the solubility of water and osmosis in order to remove the caffeine. This means that the beans maintain more of their flavour, leading to mellow notes of cocoa and spice.
All of our coffee is roasted in small batches at our home in the South Lakes and ground to order.
